Elbe Griesel: I would like to thank each and every one of you for your prayers and support through this year!I appreciate it more than you know! I praise God for 2008 and for the things Iʼve learned and experienced. What a privilege!

I am back in South Africa at the moment and had a wonderful time with my family during the holidays. 2009 is an exciting year and I canʼt wait to see what God is going to do all over the world! I would like to share my plans for 2009 with you, but please know that my plans are all in Godʼs hands and will.

I am planning to go back to India for a short term. Part of this journey will be to visit the global challenge teams with one of the project leaders as support to the team leaders. Our role will be to pray for them, listen to them, give advice and serve them in what ever the need might be. We are planning to start of with the first team going to India, spend a few weeks with them and then meet the other team in Russia for a few weeks and after that we will go back to India to spend more time at the orphanage and with the missionary there.

We are also planning to go to the Himalayas with the missionary and 4 of the boys from the orphanage that is currently in Bible school there. There are many villages in the Himalayas that you are only able to reach by foot or donkey and we would like to backpack through there for a month to see if there are any Christians/churches and also to explore the need for an orphanage in this area. Iʼve prayed a lot about it and get more excited every time I pray about it. For the first 2 months of the year I will be involved with the training of the new GC teams and I will also be volunteering at a community project in Pretoria which I will tell you more about on a later stage.

Wat `n voorreg om te kan GAAN! Go for it, Elbe, die tyd is min en die oes is groot. As you lift HIM up, may He draw many unto HIS SON, MESSIAH YAHSHUA!! smilies/smiley.gifmariska

News from Elbé:

For the past 5 weeks I’ve been with Global challenge base camp. This is the preparation/training time for the new students. We had the privilege of sitting under Floyd Mclung’s teachings and we also did a course in Theophostics which is a prayer ministry for emotional healing. All of this happened in Jeffrey’s bay where we also worked everyday for a few ours at a school in one of the local townships.

This is a public school that was not able to function properly because of the blocked toilets. Children only went to school until 10:00am.

- We fixed and cleaned the schools toilets
- Painted the roof of the school
- And danced with the children of the school we worked at

We then went to Transkei where we continued a study with the students on the Kingdom of heaven and world views. This got me very excited once again about the coming of Jesus! A verse that stood out for me this week was

1 John 2:28-3:3 “And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming. If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him. Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

I realized once again how important it is to surrender all to God and trust Him to purify us. I’ve experienced this to be a rather uncomfortable and hard process, but in this last week I was encouraged remembering a verse in

Heb 12:2 “looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross,…” :3 “Just think of Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.

If we then keep our eyes on the joy that is set before us, shich is His kingdom and Jesus’ second coming, we can endure. Is 40:31 also says that those who wait upon the Lord, (who expect, look for and hope in Him) shall renew their strength and power… they shall run and not be weary, the shall walk and not faint or become tired. Wow, what a great hope this is!!!!!

On the train back from Transkei we worshipped God with some other believers!
I will be in Pretoria now where we have one more week of base camp left before the teams leave. I will then be preparing to leave for India in April and meet up with the different teams to continue with basic discipleship and supporting them. Those of you who knows me well will know that I’ve always had a love for people, but God has started to stir a passion in my heart to disciple them and I am really looking forward to this time of learning and growing in it.

I still trust God for everything and can witness of His faithfulness all the time!!

Love and blessings,

Elbè
