INDIA hot weather and hot food equals Elbe spice

Elbe

The moment I left Delhi airport the familiar smells of masala and dust welcomed me and I knew that I am where I am suppose to be. While I was sitting in the back of the taxi, racing through the traffic, trying to dodge the multitude of people, cars, bicycles, rickshaws and scooters I had peace because this is where I have been longing to be. ! This all happened in 45 degrees Celsius!

Once you get use to the hooting and falling around in the back of the taxi, you start noticing the street children and begging women who put there trust in rituals, gods and good works. They have a false hope of being re-incarnated into a better life, and then I realize that I need to pray fervently for every lost soul. More then that; I NEED TO TELL THEM THE TRUTH!! We all are sent out by Jesus, (to Whom all authority has been given in heaven and on earth), to go and make disciples of all nations, (Mat 28:18-19). John 8:31-32:  "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." This is the only way they can be set free and we have received it freely to give away freely!

We are really privileged to stay in a flat with a nice cold shower, electricity and most important of course, fans!! We started with our Hindi classes when we arrived here. We have 2 hours of Hindi language studies followed by 2 hours of Veritas(a read your Bible in context and leadership course). I haven't been a student for a few years, so between these two courses and studying I am now suffering from a condition called information overload!! I enjoy learning Hindi and trying the new words out on the streets. It is amazing how quickly people open up when you attempt to speak their language.

                                                                              Where we by our meat!!

I've been asking a lot of questions about; "How do you seek God and how do you draw near to Him and get more revelation of who He is?" Is it through more prayer, more fasting or giving more...? I believe that all these are very necessary in our relationship with God, but today I read a verse that said it to me very clearly:

Jer 7:22-23 "Thus says the Lord of hosts, ‘For I did not speak to your fathers, or command them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices. But this is what I commanded them, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you that it may be well with you.' It is not about what we do or give, it is about our obedience!

Thank you all for your prayers and support. Never underestimate the power of prayer! Please continue to pray for me:

  • That I will be able to learn Hindi really quickly
  • For our preparation for the teams that are coming
  • Relationships we are building with people
  • THE LOST
  • For revelation and understanding of the word (2 Tim 2:15)

Love, Elbe
